UVic in global top 10 for impact

The University of Victoria is among the top 10 universities worldwide for advancing UN Sustainable Development Goals, according to the latest Times Higher Education Impact Rankings. UVic is a leader in Canada, ranking first in the country for climate action impact – third globally – in the 2023 assessment. The annual Times Higher Ed analysis affirms UVic’s 30-plus year commitment to climate action through research, stewardship, outreach, teaching and partnerships. In April, the B.C.-based university announced it will lead a national research initiative with more than 40 partners that will help Canada reduce greenhouse gas emissions and reach net-zero goals.

Lily Cho Western University

Western University has named Lily Cho vice-provost and associate vice-president, international, effectively July 1. She joins Western from York University, where she was most recently associate dean for global and community engagement in the faculty of liberal arts and professional studies. Dr. Cho is a scholar of cultural studies and postcolonial literature, and has published books on the Chinese Head Tax and the history of Chinese restaurants in Canada.
