On June 6, Brad Clarke became Brock University’s associate vice-president, students. In his new role, he is responsible for all aspects of Brock’s student services and student experience. Mr. Clarke previously served as director of student life and community experience and success at Brock for over 12 years. Mr. Clarke completed his undergraduate degree at Brock, during which time he served as the president of the Brock University Students’ Union.
The University of Guelph has named Jade Ferguson as the inaugural associate dean of academic equity and anti-racism. Dr. Ferguson is an advocate for equity, diversity and inclusion and serves on the president’s advisory committee on anti-racism. In her new role, which she began in May, Dr. Ferguson is advising on best practices for combatting racism as well as promoting equity and inclusivity in teaching, learning, and student and faculty recruitment and support. She holds a PhD and a master’s degree in English from Cornell University and a bachelor of arts in English from the University of British Columbia.
The University of the Fraser Valley has reappointed Joanne MacLean as president and vice-chancellor for a second term, ending June 30, 2028. She first joined UFV in 2012 as dean of the faculty of health sciences, and was appointed president in May 2018. As president, Dr. MacLean has led the university through the pandemic and historic flooding incidents. Dr. MacLean is the chair of the British Columbia Association of Institutes and Universities, and chair of U Sports’ board of directors. She holds a PhD from Ohio State University in human resource management in sport and recreation, and administration in higher education.
